Treatment Approach for
Psychotherapy and Counselling Sessions

Life is unpredictable and full of challenges.

At times, we can feel very isolated and lonely and feel that there isn't anyone who can

understand what we are going through.

Everyone deserves compassion and understanding.

Working together, through some of the treatment approaches below, Fraidie identifies what your needs are

and formulates strategies that help improve coping and enhance well-being.

Below are some treatment approach examples Fraidie may use to help you achieve healthy change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Clinically proven to help clients in a relatively short amount of time with a wide range of disorders, including depression and anxiety. CBT is based on the belief that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings, and Fraidie can assist you in identifying and correcting underlying dysfunctional beliefs and help modify thoughts and behaviours that are a result of them.

Strength Based Therapy

Strength based therapy is a type of counselling that puts positive focus on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than failures and weaknesses. It helps to set a positive mindset so that you can build on your best qualities, improve resilience and in turn create positive affirmations and expectations of yourself and others.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

'Brief therapy' focuses on what you would like to achieve through therapy, in the present time, and exploring your hope for the future to find quicker resolutions. In turn,

Fraidie will help you envision your desirable future, then map out short-term and long-term changes necessary to reach your potential.

Her positivity and encouragement for your current successes will help build on your strength, rather than dwell on limitations.

Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBCT)

Blending two disciplines, mindfulness based therapy combines cognitive therapy techniques and mindfulness strategies like meditation, to teach you to consciously reflect on moments and thoughts without passing judgement.

This technique encourages clarity of thought to reduce stress, anxiety, manage pain, and embrace the freedom to respond to situations by choice.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal family systems therapy is an approach that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities, or 'parts' within each person's mental system, in order to achieve healing. Fraidie will focus on the 'wounded parts' and restore mental balance and harmony by helping you change the dynamics that evidently cause discord amoung the sub-personalities and the 'self'.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent-child interaction therapy is a combination of play therapy and behavioural therapy for young children and their parents or caregivers. Treatment is designed to not only help children with behaviour or emotional problems, language issues, developmental disabilities or mental health disorders learn to control their frustrations, but for adults to learn techniques that will effectively guide and direct the child's behaviour, calmly discipline, set limits and restore positive interactions.
